The event is a talent showcase for at-risk youth and will be happening on November 15th, 2015.
Generation NEXT is a Red Carpet industry event. That means that scouted talent from around the country has been brought in to entertain. These youth are learning to be empowered and to perform. By showing up you are showing that they can do something productive with their lives and helping to encourage other at-risk youth to search out programs that could help them to better themselves.
The event itself will be held at the Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank, California. Flappers is a comedy club that is famous for hosting great events that will make you laugh while you enjoy good food and good drinks. Around the year Flappers hosts well over a hundred different events with two different venues.
To attract at risk youth and a generous audience to the event Be Iconic Entertainment has arranged for actress Shar Jackson to be the host. Shar Jackson is well-known for her role as Niecy in Moesha but has also appeared in Good Burger, The Ex-Wives Club, I Do… I Did, and a selection of other movies. On top of being an actress she is also a singer and rapper.

Sometimes negative things that happened in your life can push you into being a better human being. Not only did that happen to Drew Lynch but he inspired others along the way. Drew Lynch didn’t give up on life after something that could have potentially ruined one’s life, but he used his struggle and turned it into his advantage.
Drew Lynch is a stuttering comedian that was on the show America’s Got Talent. Drew Lynch’s story was emotional and received a standing ovation. Drew Lynch stepped on the stage and first thing he talked about was how he didn’t always want to be a comedian. Drew wanted to be an actor, but then got into a sports accident on the softball field. The softball took a tough bounce and hit his neck causing damage to his vocal cords. This gave him a concussion and a stutter when he speaks. This of course was a challenge for him because he went his whole life speaking clearly but to damage your vocal cords brings adversity into your life.
At first Drew struggled with basically becoming disabled. He had plenty of help from his girlfriend, who stood by his side in his time of need. She actually recommended that he should write out all his frustrations on paper. Then he started acting out his frustration. Then not only did it relieve stress he turned it into comedy gold. Drew is breaking barriers by becoming a notable comedian with a speaking disability.
Humbling experience for Drew because he mentioned that before his accident he would not hangout with himself now. He felt like people didn’t deserve to hangout with him and was self-centered. Drew said, “He thought people were lucky if they got the chance to talk to me and I was a jerk.” He said this before he got emotional and broke down in tears. Drew, also mentioned that he does “have a huge responsibility to show people that you can turn a negative into a positive.”
Drew Lynch took the stage and showed that you can be funny with a disability. The crowd loved him and showed a whole lot of appreciation for his courage to be a comedian. Not only did the fans love him, but the America’s Got Talent judges loved him as well. They gave him the highest honor you can receive on the show, which is the Golden Buzzer. The Golden Buzzer guarantees Drew a spot at the live show in Radio City and the chance to win 1 million dollars.

Little do people know that the word artist is much more than a musician. Art can be acting, dancing, drawing and painting. This 14 year old kid Benjamin Yonattan is a blind dancer who was adopted at a young age from Guatemala. His vision is like seeing through a straw, but that won't stop him from dreaming. He uses dance as a way to express himself. Glad to see America's Got Talent gave him a chance, because this kid can inspire millions with the courage and heart he showed to get on stage and perform. Not only is Benjamin an inspiration but the kid is talented and he killed his performance! So next time you're thinking negative about something, like you aren't good enough, or not fast enough, or to lazy, think about this kid and follow your dream with no excuses. In the words of Benjamin Yonattan, "You can follow your dream. No matter what. Because it comes from your heart, nothing else." He's a true winner in life. View the video of his performance below!
