We are living in an era where major efforts are being carried to bring awareness to the current state of mental health, and yet, it seems like we’re falling short on making a true change.
That’s why here in Be Iconic Entertainment, we focus on impacting the youth in a positive way through dynamic, powerful seminars that are looking to motivate, inspire, empower them, , and overall, improve their mental health.
However, we’re not here to talk about us, but about what’s happening with our youth’s mental health, what changes are being done to help them, and how we can help.
The alarming true about mental health in young kinds and teens
According to the mental health foundation, over 70% of kids and young people who have experienced or dealt with mental health problems at some point in their life, never actually reach out for help.
What’s even more concerning is that over 50% of mental health problems are already established by age 14. Meaning we are dealing with a large population of teenagers who are suffering alone and in silence.
If you’re wondering what type of mental health issues our kids are enduring, according to the World Health Organization, they’re most commonly going through depression, anxiety and suicide tendencies, something that’s extremely alarming, specially when we consider suicide is the third leading causes of death in 15-19 years old.
Yes, the situation that we’re dealing with isn’t easy, and the problems of not addressing mental health problems from a young age can be cause them to extend all through adulthood, but not everything is lost, and there are very important efforts being made to combat this.
What we’re doing to fight mental health problems
Efforts such as L.A county approving $9.7 million in mental health resources for LAUSD students is a great step in the right direction, since these funds will help support health teams in different schools, providing kids with the help system they need.
Of course, we’re playing our part too. We believe that through empowerment you can improve your mental health, and that’s what we do. We create a safe, dynamic space dedicated to motivate kids and young people, a space thought to give them the opportunity to dream and discover their true potential, to show them there’s so much more in life that’s worth fighting for.
Efforts like these are extremely important, since they give these kids a new, fresh option that indirectly improves their mental health and slowly gives them a new perspective on life.
However, these are just small steps, and efforts like this needs to be continuous in order to be effective on the long run, and we’re completely committed to keep on offering our services to reach this goal.
